Contrast Ratio

Contrast ratio is a difficult term to understand. The difference between the brightest white and darkest black, the screen can produce is termed as the contrast ratio of the television. Say for example 250:1 ratio means that the biggest white white color of the screen is 250x that of the darkest black. It is good to prefer sets providing a contrast ratio of 1000:1 or even higher. Not necessary to give much importance to this as the reflected light can change the contrast ratio from the technical specification.

Scaling

Scaling is done to get the natural resolution of the picture. Hence if anything is smaller, it will be scaled up and vice versa. Some television do this badly leading to jagged lines and artifacts. The effect of the scaling could not be seen in stores since the playing screen runs the in native resolution of the device. Native Pixel Resolution

The pixel resolution of your screen will be better when high. A larger screen can render the effect even more bigger. A resolution of 720p may seem good for HDTV but 1080p is the suitable resolution for watching movies on Blu ray discs. Motion Response Time

The response time is nothing but how quick the television keeps up with the fast moving images. This feature is important especially when you watch sports channels and action films. If you are planning to use the television to play games, this option is even more important. In contrast to most other specifications of LCD tv, look for smaller numbers here. A response time of 8ms or less is impressive.
